Game Overview
Onslaught is one of those old-school Genesis brawlers where you play as this lone warrior carving through armies just to reach a castle—and that’s only half the battle. The first few minutes are pure chaos: dodging mines, hacking through waves of enemies, and praying you don’t run out of stamina before the real fight even starts.
Once you actually make it inside, the game turns into this weirdly tense climb—each floor’s packed with traps and tougher enemies, and your magic spells (mapped to the function keys, of all things) feel way too limited at first. But figuring out when to burn a fireball or save your energy becomes this weirdly satisfying balancing act. Just don’t let your health or mental focus drop too low, or you’re done for.
It’s janky in that very 90s way, but there’s something weirdly addictive about the rhythm of slash-dodge-climb-repeat. The final boss fights are brutal in the best possible way.
