Game Overview
Operation Wolf came to the Amiga in 1987, a port of Taito's arcade game handled by Ocean Software. It arrived during a period when home computers were just starting to get convincing conversions of coin-op action games, and this one was a solid effort for its time.
You control a lone special forces operative, viewed from a first-person perspective, as your on-screen crosshair moves with the mouse. Your goal is to blast through six stages of a hostile military compound, rescuing POWs and eliminating every enemy that appears. The core mechanics involve holding down the mouse button to unleash a torrent of machine gun fire, while a separate key launches limited grenades to clear groups. You must carefully manage your ammo and health, which depletes with each hit, and avoid shooting the hostages that occasionally run into the fray. The game is fast and punishing, demanding quick reflexes and accurate shooting from the very first screen. It feels like a tense, chaotic firefight condensed into a few intense minutes.
