Game Overview
Panorama Cotton is this weird, kinda janky but totally charming pseudo-3D shooter on the Genesis. You play as Cotton, a witch on a broomstick, blasting through these trippy, undulating landscapes that wrap around the screen. The whole thing feels like flying through a neon screensaver from 1994—in the best way possible.
At first, the perspective messes with your depth perception (good luck judging where bullets actually are), but once you get the hang of it, the chaos is weirdly satisfying. The music’s got that classic Genesis FM synth sound, all bouncy and chaotic, and the power-up system lets you swap between different shot types mid-game. I kept accidentally hitting the wrong button and switching to the useless spread shot at the worst moments.
It’s definitely not the most polished shmup out there, but there’s something about the sheer audacity of its wobbly 3D effects that makes it hard to put down. Just don’t expect it to play fair.
