Petz Vet came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2005, published by Ubisoft. It didn't try to be the biggest or most complex game, just a quiet, focused experience about caring for creatures.
You play as a new veterinarian in a small clinic, and your job is to diagnose and treat a parade of sick pets. The core of the game is a series of minigames that act as your medical procedures; you check temperatures with a careful thermometer game, apply bandages by tracing patterns, and even use treats to coax information from uncooperative patients. The main objective is simply to heal every animal that comes through your door, building your reputation. The pacing is slow and deliberate, more about careful repetition than frantic action. It feels like doing a genuine, if simplified, job of helping things get better.
