Planetfall came out for the Amiga in 1983, developed by Infocom. It was one of those early text adventures that really showed what the platform could do with interactive fiction, blending a sci-fi setting with a sharp, often funny script.
You control a lowly ensign in the Stellar Patrol, stranded on a strange planet after your ship is destroyed. Your main goal is to survive and unravel the mystery of this new world, which involves solving a series of clever, sometimes devious puzzles. You explore room by room using text commands, interact with objects and characters (most notably your loyal, hilarious robot companion Floyd), and manage a limited inventory of items. The pacing is deliberate, and some puzzles require real thought, but the writing keeps things engaging. It feels like being the star of your own clever, unpredictable sci-fi comedy.
