Game Overview
So Popeye 3 is this weirdly intense Amiga wrestling game where our spinach-loving sailor gets abducted by aliens called the Kraggs. They’re basically forcing him to fight in intergalactic wrestling matches—lose, and Earth gets conquered. No pressure, right?
You’ve got Olive Oyl and Wimpy tossing spinach (for Popeye) and hamburgers (which the aliens gobble up) into the ring. Grab enough spinach, and Popeye can unleash his Turbo Typhoon move—which sounds way cooler than it looks, but hey, it gets the job done. Meanwhile, Brutus is being his usual jerk self by chucking bombs into the mix. You can actually trick opponents into landing on them, which never gets old.
The controls are classic Amiga wrestling chaos: wiggle the joystick like mad to break grapples, then try to pin your alien opponent before they recover. It’s clunky in that nostalgic way, but there’s something satisfying about out-muscling a space monster with nothing but spinach and sheer stubbornness. Oh, and you can play two-player if you’ve got a friend willing to endure the joystick abuse.
Honestly, it’s ridiculous, but in the best possible way.
