Power Pro Kun Pocket 5 is the baseball game I keep coming back to on my GBA. It’s got that perfect mix of arcade-style fun and actual strategy—like if someone took the best parts of a sports sim and made them actually enjoyable to play on a tiny screen. The little chibi players look ridiculous when they swing for the fences, but the pitching and batting mechanics are weirdly deep once you get the hang of them.
My favorite part? Success Mode, where you take some no-name rookie through training, weird side jobs, and even dating (yes, really). It’s equal parts hilarious and stressful when your guy gets food poisoning before a big game. The team management stuff is surprisingly solid too—way more involved than I expected from a handheld game.
If you’ve bounced off other baseball games for being too dry, this one’s different. It’s got personality, quick matches that don’t overstay their welcome, and just enough RPG nonsense to keep things interesting. Still holds up years later.
