You’re this tiny Viking kid (seriously, the sprite is like three pixels tall) hacking through monsters with an axe that feels way too big for you, and somehow it just works. The controls are clunky in that classic early-90s way, but once you get the hang of lobbing fire spells and timing your jumps over spike pits, it clicks.
The levels are these compact little nightmares—dark caves where bats dive at you, forests with enemies hiding behind trees, and fortresses packed with guys who really don’t want you rescuing your family. The music’s all ominous chiptune chanting, and the pixel art has this grimy, lived-in look that makes the world feel bigger than it is. It’s not perfect (good luck figuring out some of those cryptic puzzles without a guide), but there’s something about the vibe that keeps you going.
