You control one of several characters from the Rave Master universe, each with their own move set, and you fight through a series of side-scrolling beat 'em up stages. The main goal is to punch and kick your way through waves of enemies, leading up to a boss fight at the end of each level. Signature mechanics include pulling off special attacks by inputting specific button combinations and being able to play through the entire story mode with a friend in cooperative multiplayer. The pacing is fairly brisk, and the difficulty can spike during some of the later boss encounters.
