Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2003, developed by Ubisoft. It was one of the more polished platformers on the system, arriving at a time when handhelds were really starting to show what they could do with colorful, fast-paced action. The game translated the console experience into a portable format without losing the series' distinct visual charm.
You control Rayman, who must stop the Hoodlums by traveling through a series of themed worlds. The gameplay involves running, jumping, and using Rayman's helicopter hair to glide over gaps. You collect yellow Lums to unlock new areas, and you fight enemies with a variety of powered-up punches. The levels are designed screen by screen, with some tricky platforming and occasional puzzles. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike in later stages, but it never feels unfair. It feels satisfying to move through each vibrant stage, pulling off precise jumps and clearing out enemies with well-timed attacks.
