Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by Midway. It was one of those early GBA titles that tried to bring a console-style arcade experience to a handheld, with big characters and flashy moves squeezed onto the small screen. The game doesn't take itself too seriously; it's full of over-the-top boxers and exaggerated action, fitting right in with the kind of games people were picking up for quick, fun sessions back then.
You control a cartoonish boxer, throwing jabs, hooks, and uppercuts with the face buttons while moving around the ring with the D-pad. The main goal is to knock out your opponent before they do the same to you. Two signature mechanics are the Rumble Meter, which fills as you land punches and lets you unleash a super move when full, and the exaggerated character reactions, like stars circling their head when dazed. The pacing is fast, rounds are short, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly against certain opponents. It feels chaotic and silly, like a Saturday morning cartoon version of boxing.
