Red Storm Rising puts you in the cramped, tense cockpit of a US submarine during a full-blown Cold War gone hot. The Soviets are desperate after losing a major oil refinery, and now they’re pushing into Europe—which means NATO needs you to keep the Atlantic supply lines open. If you fail, the ground war collapses.
It’s not just about sneaking around and firing torpedoes (though that part’s great). The campaign reacts to what you do—or don’t—accomplish. Miss a convoy escort mission? Suddenly there are fewer tanks holding the line in Germany. The sonar pings get under your skin, and every decision feels like it’s got actual weight. Just don’t expect to come up for air much.
One of the few games that makes paperwork—like checking your maps and sonar contacts—weirdly thrilling.
