Rescue Heroes: Billy Blazes! is one of those GBA games that makes you feel like an actual firefighter—if firefighters also did a lot of platforming between emergencies. You’re Billy, racing through burning forests, villages, and cities, dodging collapsing beams and swinging over pits with a grappling hook. The fires spread fast, so you’re always scrambling to hose them down before they trap someone.
What I like is how they mix things up—one minute you’re climbing ladders to reach people on rooftops, the next you’re smashing through doors with an axe or sliding down ropes to save folks just in time. There’s even vehicle sections where you tear through levels in a fire truck, which feels ridiculous in the best way. It’s simple but frantic, and the gadgets keep it from getting repetitive. Just don’t expect deep storytelling—Billy’s here to put out fires, not monologue about them.
