Rocket Power: Beach Bandits came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games that felt right at home on the handheld, capturing the look and attitude of the Nickelodeon cartoon during a time when platformers and action titles dominated the portable library.
You control Otto, Twister, Reggie, or Tito, switching between them to use their unique abilities across side scrolling levels. The main goal is to reclaim stolen sand from a villain by completing missions, solving simple puzzles, and beating up robotic enemies. You spend a lot of time grinding rails, performing tricks on your skateboard or surfboard, and punching or kicking foes. The levels are linear but encourage some exploration to find collectibles, and the difficulty is fairly low, aimed at younger players. It feels like a Saturday morning cartoon turned into a game, simple and a little janky, but full of energy.
