Play Rocket Power : Dream Scheme Online
Otto skates and bikes through Ocean Shores to stop a mad scientist Merv from turning it into a polka resort, pulling off tricks and spiking volleyballs between weird mini-games. The floaty jumps take getting used to, but nailing a combo feels great.
Rocket Power: Dream Scheme came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games that showed up a lot on the platform, based on the Nickelodeon cartoon about a group of extreme sports kids. You play as the main characters, Otto, Twister, Reggie, and Ray, trying to save their hometown from a strange takeover.
You control the kids as they skate, bike, and rollerblade through side scrolling levels in Ocean Shores. The main goal is to stop the villain Merv from turning the town into a polka dot themed resort. You perform tricks to build your special meter, which lets you pull off bigger moves to break obstacles and progress. Between the platforming sections, there are mini games like volleyball and surfing that break up the action. The controls can feel a bit loose, especially on the jumps, but landing a string of tricks is satisfying. It feels like a straightforward, slightly janky adaptation that captures the show's energy without being too complex.
