Game Overview
Rocket Ranger came out on the Amiga in 1988, a Cinemaware title that blended action with strategy during a time when many games stuck to one genre. You play as a rocket ranger, a jetpack-equipped soldier fighting to stop a Nazi moon invasion, which gives the whole thing a pulpy, serial adventure feel without leaning too hard on realism.
You control the ranger from an isometric view, navigating through enemy bases screen by screen, avoiding guards or taking them out with your pistol. Between missions, you manage fuel and parts for your rocket on a world map, intercepting enemy UFOs in simple arcade-style dogfights. The game shifts between careful stealth and frantic action, and it can be pretty tough when guards spot you or resources run low. It feels like a race against time where every decision matters.
