Play Rocket Ranger on Msdos Online
Strap on a jetpack, bounce between continents sabotaging alien bases, and get into janky dogfights—just watch your fuel or you’ll crash mid-flight. Somehow this 80s mashup of strategy, shooting, and pulpy sci-fi just clicks.

Rocket Ranger on MS-DOS is one of those weird, ambitious games from 1988 that somehow mashed together jetpack dogfights, globe-trotting strategy, and pulpy sci-fi into something that actually worked. You're this rocket-powered hero trying to stop an alien invasion, hopping between continents to sabotage bases, rescue scientists, and occasionally get into these janky-but-fun aerial battles with UFOs.
The jetpack fuel management keeps things tense—you're always debating whether to risk a long flight or scavenge for supplies. And the strategy layer? Surprisingly deep for its time. One minute you're sneaking into a Nazi base (yep, they're involved too), the next you're in a top-down shooter segment blasting alien tanks. The whole thing oozes that late '80s charm, complete with a synth-heavy soundtrack that sounds like a rejected John Carpenter score.
It's clunky by modern standards, but there's nothing quite like the rush of barely making it back to base with your fuel gauge blinking empty. If you can handle the DOS-era quirks, it's still a blast.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
