RPG Tsukuru Advance (J) is one of those games that feels like a toolkit disguised as an RPG. You start by piecing together your own world, characters, and quests, but the interface is clunky in that classic GBA way—lots of menus, lots of trial and error.
I remember spending way too much time tweaking a hero's stats, only to realize halfway through testing that I'd accidentally made them useless in combat. The charm is in the freedom, though. If you stick with it, you can build something surprisingly deep, even if it never looks pretty.
