Ruffian_Disk1 came out on the Amiga in 1996 from Xplosive Software. It was a time when the platform was still home to a lot of creative, smaller projects, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, action-focused design. You control a character navigating 17 vertically-scrolling levels, each with a strict time limit. Your health is an energy bar that depletes from enemy hits or falls, and you have a limited number of lives. The gameplay involves careful jumping, using platforms and obstacles strategically to avoid enemies, and collecting items. The pacing is fast and the difficulty is pretty unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes and smart route planning. It feels tense and demanding, like a proper arcade challenge ported to your home computer.
