Game Overview
RVF Honda throws you onto a screaming RC30 bike, and yeah, it feels as real as 16-bit racing gets. You start small—local club races on these weirdly charming fictional tracks (one’s even modeled after MicroProse’s old Tetbury office, which is a fun little nod). But if you’ve got the skills, you’ll claw your way up to UK championships and eventually the world stage.
The races are tense—eight AI riders, points for top seven finishes, and laps you can tweak from 5 to 20 depending on how masochistic you’re feeling. The graphics? Sprites on polygonal tracks, which sounds janky but actually keeps the speed blistering. Watch out for puddles and oil slicks, though. Hit one and you’re eating pavement, then fumbling to remount while frantically revving the engine just to get back in the race. And if you crash too much, your dashboard straight-up dies, turning the bike into a wobbly nightmare.
Best part? Two-player mode via null-modem cable—bonus points if you’ve got an Amiga and ST linked up for some proper ’90s couch rivalry. Just don’t throw your joystick after the third oil-spill wipeout.
