SD Gundam Force came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, published by Bandai. It was one of those mid-lifecycle GBA titles that tried to do something a little different with the hardware, blending action and strategy in a way that felt fresh at the time. The game is based on the SD Gundam Force anime, so it carries that super-deformed, chibi-style aesthetic which was pretty common for spin-offs back then.

You control a squad of three Gundam units, each with unique weapons and abilities, and you switch between them on the fly to handle different enemy types and environmental puzzles. The main goal is to fight through side-scrolling stages, defeat bosses, and occasionally backtrack to open up new paths with abilities you unlock later. Combat relies heavily on chaining attacks by swapping characters mid-combo, and you can knock enemies into each other for extra damage. The pacing is brisk, though some sections demand careful timing and positioning. It feels satisfying to pull off a smooth series of swaps and watch everything on screen just fall apart.
