Play SD Hiryuu no Ken Gaiden 2 (Japan) Online
Tiny chibi warriors brawl through side-scrolling stages—samurai slashes feel crisp, and the sprite work’s full of charm. Never left Japan, but punches way above its weight for a Game Boy fighter.

SD Hiryuu no Ken Gaiden 2 is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan, but man, it’s a blast if you’re into chibi-style action games. You’ve got these tiny, super-deformed versions of martial artists and warriors duking it out in side-scrolling brawls—think of it like a pocket-sized Dynasty Warriors but with way more charm.
Culture Brain nailed the controls—your little fighter moves smoothly, and the combat feels surprisingly weighty for a Game Boy title. At first, I wasn’t sure which character to pick (there’s a decent roster here), but after a few rounds, I got hooked on the samurai’s quick slashes. The stages throw everything at you, from ninjas to giant enemy crabs, and the sprite work is just packed with personality.
It’s a shame this one never got localized, but if you’re into retro action games, it’s absolutely worth tracking down.
