Game Overview

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children: Messiah Riser came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Multimedia Intelligence Transfer and published by Atlus. It was one of those late-era GBA RPGs that really tried to push the hardware, with a darker, more complex tone than a lot of what was on the system at the time.

You control a young protagonist navigating a world overrun by demons, exploring environments screen by screen and engaging in turn-based battles. Your main goal is to recruit these demons to your side, which involves negotiating with them during combat; some might demand items or money, while others respond to flattery or threats. Once recruited, you can fuse them together to create new, more powerful allies to help you progress. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you don't manage your party carefully. It feels tense and strategic, always keeping you on your toes as you balance resources and relationships with your demonic companions.
