Shin Sangoku Musou Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Koei. It felt ambitious, trying to pack that kind of energy onto a smaller screen.
You pick a famous general from the Three Kingdoms era and lead them through battlefields broken into smaller, screen by screen sections. Your main goal is to capture enemy bases and defeat their commanders while protecting your own. Combat is straightforward; you mash the attack button for combos and build up a special Musou meter to unleash a powerful area clearing move. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike when you're suddenly surrounded. It feels satisfying to plow through crowds of soldiers, even with the hardware limitations.
