Shinobi III came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed and published by Sega. You control the ninja Joe Musashi, moving through stages that mix side-scrolling combat with occasional forward-scrolling sections. Your main goal is to stop a revived terrorist organization, which means fighting through soldiers, cyborgs, and other ninjas. You have a sword for close attacks and shurikens for ranged shots, plus special ninjutsu magic that can clear the screen. The pacing is relentless; you're constantly running, jumping over gaps, deflecting projectiles, and using wall jumps to navigate. It's challenging but fair, and pulling off a perfect run through a stage without getting hit feels incredibly satisfying. The game controls so smoothly that even when things get chaotic, you always feel in command.
