Play Shrek : Reekin' Havoc Online

I picked up Shrek: Reekin' Havoc for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003. It was developed by Vicarious Visions, who did a lot of solid licensed games for the system. This one fits right into that era; it's a side-scrolling action platformer that feels very much like a product of its time, built around the humor and characters from the films.

You control Shrek, and sometimes Fiona, as you move screen by screen through levels based on locations from the movies. Your main goal is to rescue the scattered pieces of a magical artifact, which involves a lot of straightforward brawling. You punch and kick your way through waves of knights, witches, and other fairy tale nuisances. The levels are fairly linear, pushing you forward through environmental hazards and simple puzzles, often requiring you to backtrack slightly once you gain a new ability. The pacing is quick, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly with some frustrating enemy placements or instant-death pits. It feels like a straightforward, no-frills beat-'em-up that captures the movie's silly tone without overcomplicating things.
