Smash T.V. (rev 8.00) is the MAME version of the 1990 arcade game from Williams Electronics. It came out during a period when arcades were packed with fast, loud games designed to eat quarters quickly. This one fit right in, offering a straightforward but frantic experience that didn't try to be anything more than pure, chaotic fun.
You control a contestant moving through a series of single-screen rooms, shooting in eight directions with independent movement and aiming. The goal is simple: survive each wave of enemies, collect keys to exit, and grab as many prizes as possible, like toasters and VCRs, along the way. The game throws relentless waves of foes at you, from chainsaw-wielding maniacs to bouncing robots, demanding constant motion and precise shooting. It feels like being trapped in a violent game show where every second is a fight for your life.
