Snow Bros Jr. came out for the Game Boy in 1991, a portable version of the arcade game developed by Capcom. It was a time when pocket adaptations of popular coin-ops were common, and this one tried to capture that same frantic energy on a smaller, monochrome screen. You control either Nick or Tom, two snowball-throwing brothers, as they try to clear each stage of its monsters.

Your main goal is to trap every enemy on screen by hitting them with snow until they become a giant, rollable snowball. You then kick that snowball to take out other monsters in a chain reaction. The game progresses screen by screen, with each level requiring you to eliminate all foes before a timer runs out. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when dealing with enemies that shoot projectiles or move in tricky patterns. It feels satisfying to set off a big combo and watch the screen clear in one smooth motion.
