Solar Striker was my go-to Game Boy game when I wanted something quick but intense. You’re basically piloting this tiny spaceship through waves of aliens, dodging bullets that somehow feel massive even on that little green screen. The first time I played, I got wrecked by the second stage boss—those pixelated monstrosities don’t mess around.
It’s got that classic shooter feel where grabbing power-ups actually makes a difference, and the music? Weirdly catchy for something so simple. Not gonna lie, the later levels get brutal, but there’s something satisfying about finally nailing a perfect run. If you’ve ever wondered what Gradius would look like on a road trip in 1990, this is it.
