Play Sophelie Online
1990 Amiga side-scrolling shooter. Play as a bird battling enemies across 3 stages. Collect extra lives from defeated foes. Features parallax backgrounds.
Sophelie came out in 1990 for the Amiga, developed by New-Deal Productions S.A. It was one of those side-scrolling shooters that felt right at home on the platform, with detailed visuals and a clear focus on action. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it offered a solid, straightforward experience that fit well with what many players expected from the system at the time.
You control a bird, flying from left to right, shooting down a variety of enemies that fill the screen. Your main goal is simply to survive through all three stages, each with its own set of obstacles and a boss waiting at the end. You collect extra lives by defeating certain enemies, and the parallax scrolling backgrounds give the levels a nice sense of depth. The pacing is relentless; enemies come at you quickly, and the difficulty ramps up steadily. It feels tense and demanding, requiring sharp reflexes and careful movement to make any real progress.
