Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed and published by Konami. It was part of that wave of action platformers that really pushed the hardware, with detailed sprites and fast, fluid movement that felt right at home on the system.
You control Sparkster, an opossum knight equipped with a jetpack and a sword. Your goal is to fight through stages, defeat bosses, and stop the villainous Axel Gear. Combat is a mix of sword slashes and well timed rocket boosts, and the levels are designed around chaining these moves together smoothly.
