Game Overview

Spherical came out for the Amiga in 1989, a time when puzzle games were really starting to find their footing on home computers. It was published by a few different companies, including Rainbow Arts and Softgold, which wasn't too unusual back then. The game didn't try to be flashy; it just offered a clean, thoughtful challenge that felt right at home on the platform.

You control a ball that rolls automatically once you set it in motion, and your main job is to guide it safely to the exit on each screen. To do this, you place and remove blocks to create paths, avoid enemies that follow set routes, and sometimes grab power-ups like temporary invincibility or instant teleportation. There's a deliberate, almost tense pacing because you have to plan each move before the ball starts rolling; you get about 20 seconds to set up before it moves on its own. It feels like solving a physical puzzle where every adjustment matters, and pulling off a tricky stage gives a real sense of satisfaction.
