Spyro Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Universal Interactive. It was part of that wave of 3D platformers getting cleverly downsized for handhelds, trying to capture the spirit of the console games on a much smaller screen.
You control Spyro, breathing fire on enemies and gliding across gaps to collect gems and dragon eggs. The main goal is to rescue your fellow dragons by clearing bite-sized levels filled with obstacles and hidden pathways. Signature mechanics include flame attacks to defeat foes, a glide ability to cross distances, and chasing down speedy thieves who try to escape with your loot. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty stays manageable, though some jumps require precise timing. It feels satisfying to hunt down every last gem and master the flow of each compact stage.
