Spyro Fusion came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was part of that wave of handheld games trying to bring console-style adventures into your pocket, with bigger worlds and more complex mechanics than earlier GBA titles. The hardware was really being pushed by then, and you could feel it in the scope of the levels.
You control either Spyro or Cynder, switching between them on the fly to use their unique abilities. Spyro charges through barriers and breathes fire, while Cynder uses shadow dash moves to slip past obstacles or enemies. The goal is to explore interconnected areas, solve environmental puzzles by combining their skills, and collect orbs to progress. The pace is deliberate, with some tricky timing sections that make you think before acting. It feels like a thoughtful expansion of the series' mechanics, built for handheld play sessions.
