SS Spinner is one of those Game Boy games you stumble onto and suddenly lose an hour to without realizing it. At first glance, it’s just spinning a little arrow around a grid—but then the obstacles start coming, and suddenly you’re white-knuckling the D-pad, trying to thread the needle between blocks while everything speeds up. It’s got that same "how did I mess that up?!" energy as Tetris, but with a weirdly satisfying slot-machine twist.
The graphics are barebones (it’s early Game Boy, after all), but that doesn’t matter when you’re in the zone. The real magic is how something so simple can make your palms sweat after level 5. I kept telling myself I’d stop after one game, but then I’d beat my high score and immediately want another shot. If you’ve got a soft spot for no-nonsense arcade challenges, this one’s a blast from the past.
