Game Overview

Strikefleet came out on the Amiga in 1987 from MicroProse, a company known for its strategy and simulation titles during that era. It was a time when home computers were starting to deliver more complex and visually engaging games, and this one fit right in with its focus on tactical space combat.

You command a small fleet of capital ships, managing their weapons, shields, and engines in real time across a series of missions. The main objective is to complete various scenarios, like defending a base, escorting a convoy, or launching a direct assault on enemy forces. You spend a lot of time pausing the action to issue precise orders, targeting specific enemy subsystems and carefully managing your limited energy reserves between offense and defense. The pacing is deliberate, almost chess-like, and the difficulty can be punishing if you make a rash move. It feels like you are genuinely conducting a fragile military operation from a command chair, where every decision carries weight.
