Sturmtruppen: The Video Game came out on the Amiga in 1992, developed by Simulmondo. It was a time when side-scrollers were common, and this one tried to capture the chaotic spirit of the Italian comic series it was based on. You play as one of the bumbling German soldiers from the comics, dropped into a series of missions that parody World War II with a heavy dose of humor.

You control your soldier through platforming levels, shooting enemy troops and avoiding slapstick hazards like falling anvils or collapsing structures. The main goal is simply to survive each stage, navigating from left to right while dealing with enemy fire and environmental obstacles.
