Game Overview
Super Fantasy Zone cranks up the chaos on the Sega Genesis—this time, Opa-Opa’s out for revenge after the Menon empire fatally wounds his dad. Yeah, it’s personal now. You’re still flying through these wild, pastel-colored levels, hunting down enemy generators before taking on some seriously over-the-top bosses.
What I love is how they tweaked the controls—no more auto-orientation like in the Game Gear version, so you’ve gotta handle the ship’s flips yourself. And with the Genesis’ extra buttons, you can actually map weapons properly instead of fumbling mid-battle. The shop’s still here too, letting you blow your hard-earned coins on ridiculous upgrades between levels. Some of the new weapons are borderline unhinged, in the best way.
It’s classic Fantasy Zone, just louder, faster, and with way more explosions. If you’ve ever wanted to pilot a pastel death machine with daddy issues, this is your game.
