Game Overview

Super Metroid is one of those games that just sticks with you. You start off as Samus—this badass bounty hunter—right after she thought she'd wiped out the Metroids for good. But of course, things go sideways when some dragon-looking thing snatches the last surviving baby Metroid and bolts to Zebes, the planet where everything went down in the first place.

What I love is how the whole planet feels alive. You’re not just hopping between levels—you’re exploring this massive, interconnected world full of hidden paths and secrets. Some doors won’t budge unless you blast them open, and half the fun is backtracking once you get a new upgrade, like the grappling hook or missile expansions, to reach areas you couldn’t before.

The enemies? They’re everywhere, and they don’t stay dead—walk out of a room and back in, and they’re back. But as you get stronger, you start plowing through them like nothing. And thank goodness they drop health and ammo, because some of those boss fights? Brutal.

It’s the kind of game where you’ll get lost, but in the best way possible—always stumbling on something new just when you think you’ve seen it all.
