Game Overview

Metroid Prime on the GameCube still holds up as one of the most atmospheric first-person adventures out there. You start off in Samus’ boots with barely any gear, scanning weird alien flora and backtracking through these massive, eerie environments that somehow feel alive. The way rain beads on your visor or steam fogs it up when you walk past vents—little details like that pull you right in.

Combat’s got this great weight to it—rolling into a morph ball to dodge attacks never gets old, and figuring out which beam to use on which enemy keeps fights from feeling repetitive. And that moment when you finally get the thermal visor and realize half the rooms you’ve been stumbling through in the dark were hiding secrets? Pure magic.

It’s the kind of game where you’ll stop mid-mission just to take in the view of some alien skybox, then get jump-scared by a space bat. Worth replaying just for the soundtrack alone.
