Game Overview
Super Robot Taisen D (J) is one of those GBA strategy games where you slowly build up a team of mechs, each with their own flashy attacks and upgrade paths. The first few missions feel like a warm-up, just moving units around a grid and chipping away at enemy health bars, but once you unlock the big attacks, the animations really sell the weight of these machines.
I remember getting stuck on a mid-game boss because I hadn't been upgrading my support units properly. The game doesn't hold your hand much, so you end up learning the hard way which mechs work best together. Some of the late-game fights drag if you're not optimizing your turns, but pulling off a perfectly timed combo feels satisfying.
Super Robot Taisen D (J) is solid if you like methodical, turn-based battles with a lot of customization. Just don't expect a fast-paced experience.
