Dodging Godzilla’s breath between throwing shurikens at knockoff Spider-Man—this is peak Genesis ninja chaos with a killer synth soundtrack.

Game Overview
Super Shinobi II (or The Revenge of Shinobi if you're not in Japan) is that rare sequel that actually improves on the original in every way. You're still playing as Joe Musashi, but now his ninja moves feel even slicker—throwing shurikens mid-air just works, and the new magic attacks add some wild variety when you're swarmed by enemies. The first level throws you right into neon-lit streets with enemies pouring in from both sides, and that energy never lets up.
What surprised me most was how creative the bosses get. One minute you're fighting what looks like Spider-Man (legal issues? never heard of 'em), the next you're dodging Godzilla's atomic breath. The soundtrack? Pure 16-bit adrenaline, with synth tracks that somehow make you move faster. It's tough as nails in that satisfying "one more try" way, and the sprite work still looks fantastic—Joe's animations when he runs or jumps have this weight to them that most Genesis games just didn't nail. If you've got any nostalgia for the era, or just want to see ninja action at its peak, this one's worth digging up.
