Game Overview
Tales of the World - Narikiri Dungeon 2 is one of those GBA games I stumbled on years ago and still go back to when I want something bite-sized but surprisingly deep. You start by making your own hero—I always pick Mage first, then immediately regret it when I get swarmed by enemies—and then it’s off to randomly generated dungeons where every floor feels like a gamble. Found a sweet sword? Great. Walked into a room full of slimes? Not so great.
The real hook is the Narikiri system, where you can switch classes mid-dungeon. One minute you’re a Warrior cleaving through goblins, the next you’re a Priest desperately healing yourself after biting off more than you could chew. It’s chaotic in the best way, especially when you unlock weirder jobs later. And yeah, spotting familiar faces like Lloyd skulking around is a nice little nod for Tales fans.
It’s a shame this never got an official English release, but the fan translation holds up. Just be warned: "I’ll play one quick run" turns into "Wait, why is it 3 AM?" real fast.
