Team USA Basketball for the Sega Genesis is basically a time capsule of the 1992 Olympics—you get to play as the legendary Dream Team with Jordan, Magic, and Bird all on the same roster. It’s wild seeing those names together, and they even nailed some of their signature moves (MJ’s fadeaway still feels unfair).
Besides the US squad, there are 13 other national teams with real rosters, plus an All-World team stacked with international stars. The gameplay’s similar to EA’s earlier NBA Playoffs games, but with tweaks for FIBA rules—no goaltending calls, shorter quarters, and a slightly different three-point line. First time I played, I kept fouling out because I forgot about the stricter traveling rules.
It’s not the deepest sim, but dunking with Barkley or swatting shots with Robinson never gets old. The pixelated crowd animations and that grainy "USA!" chant still give me nostalgia chills.
