Game Overview

I picked up The Fairly OddParents!: Breakin' da Rules for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a time when licensed platformers were a dime a dozen. THQ published it, and it fit right in with the era's offerings, a straightforward side-scroller built around the show's humor and characters. It wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel, just give fans a decent adventure.

You control Timmy Turner, running and jumping through levels to collect the scattered pages of Da Rules. The main draw is using Cosmo and Wanda's magic; you can switch between different spells on the fly, like a bubble gun to trap enemies or a powerful laser blast. The levels are linear, screen-by-screen affairs where you hunt for collectibles and fight off various foes from the show. The pacing is brisk, and the challenge is fairly mild, never getting too frustrating. It feels like a quick, chaotic trip through an episode of the cartoon.
