The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer came out on Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Helixe and published by THQ. It was a solid action game for the handheld, arriving when movie tie-ins were common but often hit-or-miss. This one picks up right where the film left off, with the Underminer drilling up through the city streets, and it lets you play as either Mr. Incredible or Frozone in two-player co-op or solo.
You control one of the two heroes, switching between them if playing alone, and fight through side-scrolling levels packed with robots and hazards. Mr. Incredible punches and lifts heavy objects, while Frozone uses ice beams to freeze enemies and create platforms. The goal is to stop the Underminer’s machines from destroying the city; you explore areas screen by screen, defeat waves of enemies, and occasionally take on larger boss robots. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some sections demand quick reflexes, especially when platforming or avoiding environmental traps. It feels like a compact, energetic brawler that makes good use of the source material’s appeal.
