I picked up The Land Before Time: Into the Mysterious Beyond for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when licensed games were still a big part of the handheld scene. It was developed by Full Fat and published by DSI Games, and it felt like a pretty standard adventure for the platform, not trying to reinvent anything but offering a solid few hours of dinosaur-themed exploration.
You control Littlefoot and his friends, switching between them to use their unique abilities: Petrie can fly over gaps, Ducky swims through water, and Cera smashes obstacles with her horns. The main goal is to explore the world screen by screen, solving environmental puzzles and gathering items to progress. There are light combat sections where you tail-swipe smaller predators, and occasional set pieces like sliding down vines or navigating on rafts break up the pacing. The difficulty is gentle, aimed at younger players, but the controls can feel a bit stiff at times. It feels like a straightforward, charming trip back to the Great Valley.
