I finally got around to playing The Legend Of Zelda - A Link To The Past (Cezar) (EU) on GBA, and it still holds up. The first thing that struck me was how dense the world feels - you start in this quiet little house, then suddenly you're sneaking through the rain to rescue Zelda, and before you know it, you're pulling swords from pedestals.
The dungeons are clever without being frustrating, though I did get stuck for a while in the first one trying to figure out that you can push certain blocks. The overworld has this great sense of mystery too, with little caves and secrets everywhere. Some of the sprite work looks a bit rough on the GBA screen, but the music and atmosphere more than make up for it.
What surprised me most was how much freedom you have after the first hour or so. The Legend Of Zelda - A Link To The Past (Cezar) (EU) doesn't hold your hand, and figuring out where to go next feels like solving a puzzle itself sometimes.
