Zelda 3 - Goddess of Wisdom is one of those rare ROM hacks that actually feels like it could’ve been a lost SNES sequel. It takes everything great about A Link to the Past—the dungeons, the music, that satisfying sword swing—and remixes it just enough to feel new without losing the magic.

First thing you’ll notice? The overworld map isn’t quite where you remember. Familiar locations are shuffled, and there are whole new areas to stumble into. I got lost within five minutes (in a good way). The dungeons are tougher too—some puzzles had me scratching my head longer than I’d like to admit, but figuring them out feels so rewarding.

If you’ve played the original to death, this is the closest thing to experiencing it for the first time again. Just don’t expect your muscle memory to save you.
