I picked up Tom and Jerry Tales for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when licensed platformers were everywhere. It was developed by Warthog, and it fits right into that era of straightforward, cartoon-inspired games. You don't get a lot of surprises, just a solid attempt to bring the chase to a handheld screen.
You control Jerry, and sometimes Tom, across a series of side-scrolling levels. The main goal is to collect pieces of cheese while avoiding Tom, who sets traps and tries to catch you. Signature mechanics include using objects like mousetraps or marbles to temporarily stun Tom, and switching between characters in certain stages to solve simple puzzles. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair, never too punishing but not exactly a walk in the park either. It feels like a quick, chaotic dash from one end of the level to the other.
